And here's what we give the big thumbs down to

Vonage is a company that sells Voice Over IP (VoIP). While the quality of the phone service has improved a lot in recent years, it's not because of this we aren't recommending the service. It's the customer service that belongs in the tank. Hold times are extremely long and while the technical support folks are great, their customer service division needs whack upside the head.
It's the service that unfortunately forces us to not recommend this brand. Their innovative Tablet PC's are easy to use and comfortable to carry, however, warranty service is poor. You're forced to pay your own shipping (even using your own box to send the laptop back for repair work!). Warranty works takes weeks, and we're talking 4-6 weeks. Imagine no computer for over a month!
Norton Anti-Virus 2004 or later
We normally recommend Norton's to everyone, however we have noticed that Norton's will run really slow on older slower computers running Windows 98 and Windows Millennium therefore if you have an older computer, something like AVG might work out a little bit better. We've also seen quite a few PC's come into our shop with horrible stories from installing Norton 2006.
Norton System Works and Norton Internet Security
While these two products do their job well, they however are many times tough to navigate and can cause more difficulties than need be. There are better alternatives out there, such as Zone Alarm, Spyware Doctor, and AVG.

Dell Computers

Some of the Dell computer systems are great. Even some of their pricing is great (some!), however, from our Tamers experience in supporting Dell, the quality of their service and support has dropped. We've seen numerous new Dell computers come into our store with faulty equipment. Then you have to call India and have them talk you through their trouble-shooting process. In the end, you'll get a new replacement unit, but who wants to deal with a faulty system in the first place and spend three hours on the phone with tech support?
